That’s the deepest already, surprisingly they found fish down there with no eyes. It is extremely dark down there as sunlight can only penetrate 100-200 m under water.

Like other toothed whales, sperm whales use echolocation to find their food. They create a series of high-frequency clicks through cavities in their skull. These clicking sounds reflect back off of fish, squid, and other animals, allowing the whale to virtually see in the dark.

FYI Only: Fish found off the coast of Japan could be the deepest ever to be recorded. Japanese and Australian researchers filmed a Pseudoliparis snailfish at 8,336 metres down as part of an expedition to some of the world's deepest ocean trenches.5 Apr 2023

Why need to waste so much money to search for just 5 ultra-rich risk takers?

It is an obligation  for countries to conduct Search and Rescue (SAR) to vessels in distress both in Admiralty tradition and other International Treaties such as the SAR Convention adopted at a conference in Hamburg and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).   Rolleyes

A remotely help to operated vehicle (ROV) have located pieces of debris from the Titan on the seabed 1,600ft (about 500m) from the bow of the Titanic wreck on Thursday morning, Rear Admiral John Mauger, the First Coast Guard District commander, told a press briefing.
