The US Army has released plans to create a new family of multi-role air-launched drones that will be capable of semi-autonomous operation alongside other manned or unmanned aircraft and helicopters and will be able to work together on their own as a fully autonomous networked swarm.

The latest model in the series is the ALTIUS-600M, a 'kamikaze' drone of between nine and twelve kilos and a range of about 500 kilometers that has been equipped with an explosive warhead.
