Another big local GLC hire PRC also like that. Heard that even if your pay is $2k or so, no overtime pay at all. Is it low pay then they are eligible for over-time pay?

Maybe as what Shanmugam highlighted- "Neither in cohorts nor naive with . . . . "? Just another reverse statement to deny lapses?

But I am glad that the bus- drivers know that the law under different hands are differently interpreted. Why JoTeo/ Tan SL not even coming out to investigate LTA? Same familee cannot "besmirch"?

Then what about that BackDoor Minister Ng Chee Meng? Union Chief also doing nothing to protect the 5 groups of vulnerable?

The doctor case is not so simple.  Not open and shut.  The court noted that the complainant was neither a staff, patient or doctor.  Then how come she can gain access to the premises?

Mistress?  The prosecution lost out because she was lying about the molest.

The Singapore justice system is only for those with money.
No money. No justice.
Lawyers are expensive and want big upfront deposits.
Deposits run out and they walk out.
They leave you hanging out to navigate the complicated court process.

Self-representation also very expensive.
Filling fees are expensive even its all digital and online.
Crimson Logic monopolize court fillings.

The court and judges don't give you chance when you self represent.
They expect you to be as good as a trained lawyer.

You have no money cannot sue.
You have no money get sued, sure lose.

In Singapore, justice has a high price.

SBS would rather spend huge legal fees at a brand name law firm than use that money to improve employee welfare. Speaks volumes about the company.

Something is very wrong in our system?

600k how many ppl can afford it.
It sounds like our pledge is a joke.

Justice needs to pay high price in Sg.

In total, 13 bus drivers are suing SBS Transit over what the judge said are essentially the same matters pertaining to their employment.

They are: Mr Chua, Mr Lee Chye Chong, Mr Chian Poh Seng, Mr Fung Chean Seng, Mr Tan Ting Hock Robin, Mr Thiyagu Balan, Mr GAn Kim Kiam, Mr Huzainal Hussein, Mr Lim You Onn, Mr Chiew Yi Yee, Mr Meerah Mohamed Halideen, Mr Razak Hasim and Mr Mohamad Sani Din.

It was agreed on Mar 4 last year that Mr Chua's case would be heard as a test case, with the other 12 suits held in abeyance pending the determination of his case.

MR CHUA'S CLAIMS

Mr Chua claims that SBS Transit breached the Employment Act by not giving him a rest day per week. Its employment practices were also allegedly in breach of the Manpower Ministry's regulated pay rate that an employer is expected to pay for work done during a rest day.

Mr Chua also claims that he was underpaid for overtime work, and that the company did not pay him the statutorily prescribed rate for working on a rest day.

As a result, he worked in excess of the prescribed work hours in a day or week. He also claims that the company did not pay him an agreed allowance for work done on the night shift.

I read the case details and disgusted by the ipoor treatment of these workers by executives who are very highly paid.

Something has to be done.

I am donating $100....its a small sum but I hope it can help to stop the bullying of workers by companies

We should all do our part.

Lesson 1-

It is not a sin to make mistakes. But it is a sin to be negligent and never want to rectify and undo those mistakes.
