US chipmunks infected with bubonic plague

Chipmunks in Lake Tahoe were recently diagnosed with the bubonic plague, which prompted the closing of parts of South Lake Tahoe. Someone found a dead one and reported it, and it tested positive for the potentially deadly disease.
