Cham: the average Russian mother has no more than one son

Quote:Just about every big story in the news can be better understood for seeing it through a demographic lens. When viewing the current conflict in Ukraine, we might wonder whether Russia’s staying power will be affected by the fact that the average Russian mother will have no more than one son. As the body bags start coming back home to Moscow or Vladivostok, this might shape the reaction.

By contrast the generation of Russians who fought Hitler were the product of families of six or seven. This may well reduce Russia’s preparedness to sustain losses. And Russia may just run out of men for a long war; when the Soviet Union went into Afghanistan, it had a population almost double that of today’s Russia, and many more young people.

How is childcare handled in Russia?

The childcare system in Russia provides for universal primary (one to three years of age) and kindergarten (three to seven years of age) service in urban areas. These relieve working mothers from daytime child care needs.

Maternity capital benefits in Russia 2007-2022
Published by Statista Research Department, Sep 2, 2021

A family receiving their first child in Russia would receive approximately 503 thousand Russian rubles from the government within the maternity (family) capital program in 2022. The maternity capital benefits in the country saw an increase in recent years.

How much money do Russian families receive for a second child?

For the second and each further child, if the family already received the money for the first one since the program's start in 2007, it would get nearly 161.8 thousand Russian rubles.

If the family received their second child and has never claimed maternity capital benefits before, it would be given around 665 thousand Russian rubles.

According to data from 2020, most live births by Russian women aged until 27 years were of first children. Mothers of age 28 years and older mostly gave birth to a second child.

SG PAP does it differently. Our children serve army or become sarong party gals. Then population not enough just open door for foreigners. All things settle nicely. Every 5 year just give $200 angbao can liao. The daft easy to con. Lol
