Chan Chun Sing on defence: 'We are not at war, but neither are we at peace'

I am unsure why Bigiron is so defensive and ended up making personal attacks in his own thread.

Perhaps I had somehow exposed his real agenda   - He has no interest in Singaporean's safety nor security ?

This may explain why he hated the suggestion that SGreans should be more aware that "We are not at war, but neither are we at peace"

Ah yes — disagree with you, must mean I hate Singapore’s safety. Impressive logic. Do you hand out loyalty test kits with every opinion? And So now asking questions = no interest in national security? Didn’t realise concern came with a script and loyalty oath.

Not that I wanna put words in Bigiron mouth... But I am surprised he gets emotional over a simple disagreement and turns his Thread into personal vendetta against a "off-duty   Press Secretary internship"...

Yet, he persist in childish questions while ignoring SG's security/defense reality which is founded on the concept of 居安思危  Big Grin

Ah, so first you suggest I have a hidden agenda, now you're surprised I respond? You don't get to poke and then play victim when someone pushes back and from 'not putting words in my mouth' straight into a full psychoanalysis. Impressive — maybe your next internship should be with CSI instead.

simple common sense.

why nurses and doctors who handled covid patients need to wear mask but people in public who might meet people with covid do not need mask?

no matter what virus, it is safer to wear mask at all times for all people and not just for healthcare workers top wear masks.

but PAP insisted that not enough mask is the not real reason.
PAP said that the real reason is WHO advice not to wear mask.

that is why I said Chan Chun Sing is a useless minister.

he said cannot wear mask because WHO said no need to wear mask is WRONG.

must blame him because he was wrong because he followed WHO.

5 years ago when the World knew little of COVID19 and face mask stock were running low globally in Q1...In fact, it was until early Apr 2020 that the Gov changed its policy. PM Lee himself pointed out mask wearing is not mandatory for those who seems healthy -  based on WHO advisory...That allowed CCS, who was the Minister for Trade and Industry then, to push for every Singapore resident to get a reusable mask.  This is why I found it weird for those who forget those details just 5 years ago. Chan has my respect given his consistent holistic approach towards SG's security, regardless of we are at War or Peace.

On Singapore's previous policy to only encourage those who are unwell to wear masks, Mr Lee said that it was based on scientific advice and guidelines from the WHO. "We also did not have community spread in Singapore then, so it was very unlikely for you to run into anyone with Covid-19 on the street, much less be infected by them..."

1st I was labelled as an "off-duty Press Secretary internship"... next accused of "psychoanalysing" when a poster himself has track record of doing that very thing in SGtalk.
What's more Bigiron started a new Thread dedicated to me.

Hmmm...should I be flattered by such unusual emotional reaction ? Big Grin

If you're going to deflect with sarcasm, at least address the points raised.

1. The "Press Secretary" remark was satire — if it struck a nerve, maybe reflect on why.

2. Noting patterns in your posts isn’t "psychoanalysis." And saying others do it too is just weak whataboutism.

3. A thread about you isn’t a compliment — it’s a reaction. Don’t confuse attention with respect.

In Jan 2020, SG  had  >5 million mask in stock after SAF manpower was activated to support SG's packing and distribution.

The question isn't about "enough" or not, but rather how to re-stock when usage rose exponential as panic spread in the early months of COVID19...

Interesting how anything that challenges your assumptions gets labelled as 'off-topic'. Almost like the topic is only safe when it stays inside your comfort zone.

Nothing interesting to say other than another Story about "comfort zone"
Not sure what "assumptions" Bigiron is saying - All I suggest is he has a different agenda while failing to acknowledge that SG's security practice has kept us safe for 60 years.

That is a FACT, which for some reason TS avoid and instead went down the Emotional rabbit hole or should I say "comfort zone" of his ?  Big Grin

Funny how every time someone questions a 'fact', it magically becomes a personal meltdown. If your argument is so solid, why does it need emotional name-calling to survive?

And I also didn’t realise ‘comfort zone’ meant ‘not blindly agreeing with you.’ I must’ve missed that in the dictionary.

Funni how TS avoids the FACT SG remains at peace for 60 years and he doesn't even realise he has gotten so used to this "comfort zone" for too long.
Sadly, pple like Bigiron have missed this FACT.  Highly unsurprising nor "entertaining"

Simple - Chan is a newly elected official after GE2025 and it is a tradition of a minister sharing view in his or her new role, as in this case, Minster of Defence.

More so in an increasingly unstable New World Order which is has changed so quickly that warfare has become extremely dynamic and unpredictable...
