Western media even said an arrangement for a summit between Putin and Zelensky in Jerusalem is underway…. Dunt think this is possible at current stage.

I actually think it's a good move to attack Donestsk ahead of negotiations. This will let the Russians know that Ukraine will keep disturbing them and they will have no peace, even though momentarily they are holding on to the territories.
Ukraine is just showing that they have the chips to bargain.
