selective comparison. SUV is only one type of so many electric cars. Singaporeans go mainly for Petrol or petrol-electric cars. On the electric car market, there are many others selling better than Xpeng

Byd will sponsor $3k for the installation of the charger. Not sure other brands would do the same.

LOL! You didn't even check the list which u  post. Laughing

Go read the 3rd page -  The 1st G6 unit was sold only in July this year.

And the LTA data shows 267 total is now now on the road 5 months later.

Perhaps you aren't as eagle eye as I am. There are 2 G6 in my neighborhood and 1 Model Y.

However, their owners have a common conservative colour taste - Either white or silver

Maybe that is why it isn't as eye catching as the bright orange we see in the Xpeng show room.

A few weeks ago, around 40 SGrean participate in their first G6 owners gathering.

No guarantee having a private EV charger is better than public ones.

AFAIK, those installed on landed and private properties are wall-based AC charger subjected by local power line limit.

You won't wanna trip your house power supply everytime plugging in to a EV, correct ?

Telsa Singapore used to be free for the owners at Telsa's super charger network on DC power.

But now no longer free since 2022. Still the cost is still way way cheaper than topping at the usual petrol station.

Singaporean’s not rushing to buy electric car not only the secondhand value stinks but also they eould hv a problem once they got stuck at the causeway or a serious jam. Older battery will run flat quickly with air cond running.

Trading Economics:  In China, employed persons refer to who performed some work for one hour during the reference period.

The second-hand value is poor because not many Singaporean drivers live in landed properties and it is not as convenient as one will always have to spend time waiting for EV batteries to be charged unless they can arrange to have a convenient charging point. Also when traveling in Malaysia, one might not have a problem finding a charging point with careful route planning but there is no guarantee that the charging points will always work because of poorer maintenance especially in remote areas.

I am curious did you bother to check that LTA PDF which you shared previously ? Big Grin

Singapore had the highest EV adoption rate among the six South-east Asian countries in 2023, according to Bloomberg, with EVs accounting for about 19% of all vehicles sold here. In the first 7 months of 2024 alone, EVs formed 32% (or 1/3) of new car registrations, based on data from LTA. Singapore’s target is for all vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040. From 2030, all new car and taxi registrations must be of cleaner-energy models. Under Singapore’s Green Plan, 60,000 EV charging points will be available by 2030..

The key to transport electrification is not the vehicle but rather is the country's power infrastructure ability to upgrade and sustain this new economy away from fossil fuel.
That is why SG is replacing its large fleet of Merc and Saab public buses with BYD and YuTong EV buses. Big Grin

Yes.  I analysed the table using Excel sheet and the result for 2nd half 2024 is as follows

Out of so many brands of cars,  the Chinese brand is only 14% of the total number of cars registered in Singapore.

If you do not believe it,  you can check yourself using the LTA table.

They thot all EVs registered in Singapore r all from China.  One can check the LTA table. Many EV cars r from other countries. Only BYD is selling well.

We just got a KIA Niro hybrid 4 $175,000.  BYD is selling around $164,000 which is not much cheaper. Understand the insurance and road tax r higher 4 EVs.    Quite satisfy with KIA Niro. Save a lot of petrol compare to our old car.  No electric charging required.

sgCarmarket has a good coverage on KIA Niro Hybrid and the equivalent BYD M6 Electric.  The rating  on KIA is better, plus one do not have to worry about charging points.
