China Southern is Asia's largest carrier - by fleet size and the number of passengers carried. It operated a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Christchurch-Guangzhou route, offering up to 272 seats on each flight.

Chinese visitors led daily spending though, averaging $366 per day, followed by visitors from the United States ($333, down 6% from last year) and Australia ($296, up 11%).
