Chinese New Year 2024, New Moon and Super New Moon Phenomena Almost Simultaneously
#1

"Saturday, 10/2/2024 the two phenomena will occur almost at the same time, only 18 hours apart," said Marufin. The conjunction of the moon-sun or new moon event occurred Saturday (10/2/2024) at 06.01 WIB. Meanwhile, the perigean moon or super new moon occurs on Sunday (11/2/2024) at 01.51 WIB.

The perigean moon that Marufin means is the position of the moon when it is at the closest point or perigee to the earth in the moon's orbit.

Because the moon's orbit is oval, there are two extreme points, namely perigee as the closest point to the earth and apogee as the farthest point to the earth. He further explained that the lunar conjunction is the conjunction of the moon and the sun in the form of a line between the positions of these two objects in one celestial coordinate system. "So the angular distance between the two celestial bodies is the smallest. This happens every 29.5 days (on average) and is often called a new moon , " said Marufin.

Furthermore, Marufin said that the moon-sun conjunction or new moon is always followed by high sea tides.
