The refusal to yield is a sign of inconsiderate behaviour, leading to feelings of impatience and frustration among other road users. There is a common reaction by drivers to speed up to close the gap whenever another car tries to switch lanes in SG. Refusing to give way creates hazardous situations. If a driver tries to force his way into a lane even though the other motorist refuses to yield, there is a genuine risk of a collision. I have seen this happen during my visits to JB. Just last week, a BMW with a Malaysian plate tried to force his way into another lane where a S'pore registered BMW refused to yield. The cars scraped each other, but despite attempts by the S'pore car to get the other party to stop and discuss compensation, the Malaysian driver carried on driving as if nothing happened.

Another reason most drivers refuse to give way is that the beneficiaries rarely, if ever, wave to indicate their gratitude. It is a little gesture that goes a long way to making other motorists kinder, but seems to be too much effort for the majority of drivers here.

I think the reason that the driver refused to give way could be the other driver wanna cut queue, if you give way to them, you are encouraging them to cut queue some more. I think to give way need to see situation.
