YANGON - As civil war pounds Myanmar’s economy and drives up prices, garment worker Wai Wai often starts her shift making clothes for international brands on an empty stomach.
The orders she and thousands of others churn out for big names – including Adidas, H&M and others – bring in billions of dollars in export earnings for Myanmar. It is a rare bright spot in an economy crippled by the military’s 2021 coup and subsequent slide into civil war.

KIA Seizes Border Town From Myanmar junta Kachin Independence Army (KIA) seized Kanpiketi, another Chinese border town, on Wednesday amid Chinese pressure to stop fighting Myanmar’s regime. China has blocked border gates to Kachin State, has asked KIA to stop attacking the junta..
The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) is reinforcing troops, ammunition and other supplies in the northern Shan State capital, Lashio, despite pressure from China to withdraw from the city. The group seized Lashio and its Northeastern Command headquarters in early August and Beijing is apparently demanding a withdrawal from the city.
MNDAA has fortified routes to Lashio and is bolstering its control of the city, a source told The Irrawaddy.“ More troops and food arrived recently. Both the MNDAA and People’s Defense Forces made a lot of sacrifices to occupy Lashio and they won’t give it up easily,” he said. The junta and MNDAA have clashed at least twice near Hoya village in Mongyai Township, heightening tensions, said the source.

China is supporting genocide for Myanmar. Becos China hv great benefits to gain from Myanmar including those China scammers and drugs trade on Myanmar-China borders. Yet, China can talk so great abt been neutral, supporting regions stability and telling other countries what are not right to do. China talks are so hypocritical.

This week, the regime faced pressure from a border dispute involving Myanmar’s most powerful ethnic army, while kowtowing even further to Beijing. Can China Help Myanmar Junta Recapture Northern Shan State?. China threw Myanmar’s regime a diplomatic lifeline by welcoming junta boss Min Aung Hlaing to a regional summit this month.
Rumors now swirl about potential military & economic assistance from Beijing. China has been treading lightly both in"l & junta domestic hostility to regime, it appears Min Aung Hlaing returned w/some valuable China promises to regime supporters, foreign observers has traditionally viewed armed organizations along Chinese border as Beijing’s puppets.
China pressured groups in northern Myanmar to sign the 2015 Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, participate in the Union Peace Conference and work with Myanmar’s military. The armed groups instead formed the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee to respond collectively to China’s pressure.
Op 1027, launched in October last year, caused a rift between China & northern armed groups. The organizations initially tried to please Beijing by cracking down on online fraud syndicates operating along border. But Beijing now chosen to back regime & forced the armed groups to sign a truce in January this year to end the regime’s series of humiliating defeats.

In Aug, it took full control of town, serves as important commercial gateway to Chinese border. MNDAA’s leader, Peng Daxun, traveled to Yunnan in late Oct for medical treatment was later detained by Chinese authorities, source, who requested anonymity for security reasons.

Chinland Council’s Op. Jericho Seizes Four Myanmar Junta Outposts...Attacks later the same day on the neighboring junta outposts at Umpu Puaknak and Nawn Thluak Bo resulted in several more junta casualties and the seizure of arms and ammunition, they added“ There are still at least two other junta outposts remaining in the Timit Plains area,” said a Chinland Council member.
Combined forces under the Chin Council (CC) launched the operation last week to clear junta outposts from a 35-kilometer stretch of the Timit River plain between Hakha and Thantlang.
The CC, formed last December as the political body overseeing the
Chinland govt, named the offensive Operation Jericho. Chin troops captured the first of the four junta outposts, Point No. 3 strategic hilltop outpost overlooking the Timit River, on November 26.
Analyst explained Timit Plain is a strategic target for allied Chin forces as it would allow them to launch attacks on Hakha, which remains under junta control, he analyst added control of area would also enable CC to cut off junta’s route for transporting supplies & reinforcements to Thantlang. As CC forces advance on the Timit Plain, allied Chin Brotherhood Alliance (CBA) troops are attacking junta positions in the townships of Falam to the south and Mindat to the north. CBA’s Chin Defense Force (CDF) Mindat launched offensive on Nov 9 in Mindat Township, where junta has responded with airstrikes.
In a statement issued today, CDF Mindat vowed to liberate the entire Mindat Township, which houses junta’s Infantry Battalion 274. Falam is under Infantry Battalion 268.

BANGKOK: A second major Myanmar ethnic rebel group has said it is ready for Beijing-mediated talks with the junta to end more than a year of renewed fighting that has ravaged areas along the Chinese border.
The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), with about 8,000 available fighters, has fought the Myanmar military for over a decade for autonomy for the Kokang ethnic minority in northern Shan state.
Last year, it and two other allied rebel groups launched an offensive against the military and seized swathes of Shan state, including ruby mines and a lucrative trade highway to China.
Last week, MNDAA ally the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) said it was ready for talks with the military.
"From today onwards we will cease fire immediately, and will not actively attack the Myanmar army," the MNDAA said in a statement released late Tuesday.
"Under the mediation of China, we are willing to engage in peace talks with the Myanmar army on issues such as Lashio," it said, referring to the city its fighters captured in August in a huge blow to the junta.
The MNDAA was "willing to send a high-level delegation to engage in dialogue and consult with the Myanmar military and resolve conflicts and differences through political means," it said.

Meanwhile in the Myanma. The National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), a major ethnic armed group operating in northeastern Myanmar, has announced a unilateral ceasefire with the country’s military junta.
In a statement released on social media Tuesday night, the MNDAA declared that the ceasefire, effective immediately, means its forces will not initiate offensive operations against Myanmar’s military from their current positions.
The move comes as a number of ethnic armed groups based along Myanmar’s border with China face growing pressure from country’s powerful neighbour over their more than year-long offensive against the regime. In addition to its concerns about the border situation, China has significant geopolitical interests in Myanmar, including access to the Indian Ocean. MNDAA & a Chinese-speaking ethnic Kokang armed group, gained control of the economically strategic city of Lashio in northern Shan State in August. However, China, which . . .

CHIANG MAI - Former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom has been seen in public for the first time since his release on parole on Monday, after serving more than seven years in prison for corruption linked to the Yingluck Shinawatra government’s rice pledging scheme.
Boonsong, accompanied by his son, Dejnatwit Teriyapirom, reported to a probation office in Chiang Mai on Wednesday. The visit lasted about half an hour, after which they left immediately.
Although the 64-year-old former politician now appears happier and shows signs of improved mental health, he still needs more time for himself and is not yet ready to receive visitors, Mr Dejnatwit said in a telephone interview.

Living under themilitary junta, Myanmar people thirst for good news to comfort especially any development, suggests the ruling criminal regime might be vulnerable. On Sunday, they got some.
News of stunning victory by Syrian rebels ended Bashar al-Assad’s decades-long rule, with opposition forces taking capital & forcing the president to flee to Russia, made their day. News & pictures of Syrians celebrating their freedom in the streets of Damascus were widely enviously shared by Myanmar people on social media.
This was real—not some misinformation campaign designed to alarm the generals, who have ordered daily airstrikes against opposition forces & civilians in Myanmar.

Bloody siege ends Myanmar army control of western border. The end, when it came for the BGP5 barracks, was loud and brutal. First, a crackly speaker calling out for their surrender; then, a thunderous barrage of artillery, rockets and rifle fire that tore chunks out of the buildings in which hundreds of soldiers were hiding.
BGP5 – the letters stand for Border Guard Police – was the Myanmar military junta's last stand in northern Rakhine State, which lies along the border with Bangladesh. Video by the insurgent Arakan Army (AA) which was besieging the base shows their rag-tag fighters, many barefoot, firing an assortment of weapons into the base, while air force jets roar over their heads. It was a ferocious battle - perhaps the bloodiest of the civil war which has consumed Myanmar since the military seized power in a coup in 2021.
