RUSSIAN TROOPS have told workers at Ukraine's Zaporizhia nuclear power plant that the power plant would now belong to Rosatom, which is capitalized by the Russian state.

According to Reuters news agency Petro Kotin , director of the Ukrainian state-owned nuclear power company Energoatom, said on Friday.

According to Kotini, ten Rosatom employees, including two senior engineers, tried to enter the nuclear power plant and take over its operations. According to Kotini, the attempt failed.

“There are about 500 Russian soldiers in the area with automatic weapons. Our staff is in a very bad state of mind, ”Kotin said.

The nuclear power plant dates back to the Soviet era and its technology is Russian, reminds Deputy Director Tomi Routamo of the Nuclear Power Plant Control Department of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (Stuk).

“They are definitely very familiar with the basic technology,” says Routamo.

However, Routamo estimates that the Russians would need the help of its Ukrainian employees to operate the plant. The power plants are basically similar, but over the years, the local company has been able to make its own solutions.
