Coffee shops and food courts are getting ready for new rules that kick in on Jan 1, 2022, which require diners to return their used crockery on trays. Almost all have installed tray return facilities, compared to 20% in July 2021. Strict table littering rules have been put in place at hawker centres since September. Now, more than four in five diners are returning their used crockery on trays. That’s a significant jump from 33% in February. Some 400 operators received funding support to help defray up to 50% of the cost to install the new infrastructure.
