The UK's top three coronavirus hotspots have been revealed in new government figures.

Torridge, in Devon, is currently suffering the highest rate of new cases in the country, followed by Northern Ireland's Mid Ulster and the Causeway Coast and Glens.

It comes amid surging infections in the UK, with 46,807 recorded on Thursday - the highest daily figure for a month.

Earlier this week Boris Johnson said there was 'nothing in the data' to suggest the need for future restrictions, despite the rising figures.

Weekly Covid statistics show rates are rising in 83% of UK areas, with only 16% recording a fall.
