"Thambi Magazine Store closed on May 5 - a casualty of development plans. When contacted, the Holland Road Shopping Centre management office declined to comment on the store’s closure."

the man refused to say who asked him to curtail his SPACE.
what is the big secret?
it would be the owner of the building or his landlord...

Good to have this institution relocate to another location. Maybe Buona Vista MRT will be good.

It's the owner's right to make money, so it's up to the gov to help keep this institution alive. Maybe a spot in national library

That won't help the vendor because people who go to the National Library expect to read the magazines for free.

SkillsFuture prepares attendees for a life of underemployment.

I passed that shop very often and noticed not much business nowadays. Not like those old days where business was thriving and flow of newspapers very fast. I guess it is an obsolete or sunset business where readers go digital and read their stuffs on HPs and laptops. Also nothing much were displayed in the shop.
Another thing is there is a 7/11 shop on the opposite side which takes away a lot of their business like selling condoms, Panadols, titbits, etc where nearby residences can buy conveniently at odd hours.
Perhaps they should take this opportunity to shut it down or downsized the shop into one.of those mama corner stall size of the seventies.      Rolleyes

I guess it must be making some small money but times must be tough. Afterall  the shop is run by himself and an old Indian woman which I think is his wife.

Thambi doesn't display his goods in a manner that attracts customers. This vendor, on the other hand, has an enticing display of her fruits.

I have seen and heard how CECA managers dispense with S'porean staff and replace them with other Indians. The fact that our govt is allowing this kind of racial discrimination to happen in our own country shows the degree of treachery that is going on here.
