Home Cctv is very cheap nowadays. $40++ can get a decent 2.5k resolution.  For me, I use it to watch my dog.
Furthermore, I can also see who is at home at that moment if I have a parcel to receive or collect.

I got one mainly to watch over my elderly dad when I'm out. I went with Vivint because it lets me check the live feed from my phone and send alerts if something moves. Haven’t had any weird activity yet, but I still update my passwords regularly and don’t click links from unknown emails. You also get to control other stuff like lights and locks from the same app, which I find handy.
