Based on DAP leader Nga Kor Ming's analogy, he likens himself to a lion and Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh to a fly, implying that the latter is not worth engaging with. However, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, trained in medicine but excelling in spin doctoring, pounced on the chance to swat the entire Umno.

To commemorate 1-year “anniversary” of former PM Najib Abdul Razak receiving a “grand discount” over his sentencing, 4-reform-based NGOs said M'sians who hate corruption have one message – the man does not deserve mercy. “Najib does not deserve mercy, including home detention and today marks the 1st anniversary of Najib’s ‘grand discount day’,” said the groups in a joint statement.
Najib deserves chance to redeem himself, says anti-graft NGO. As the issue of Najib Abdul Razak’s royal addendum on house arrest continues to make headlines, an NGO has chimed in to say that it believes the former premier deserves the opportunity to redeem himself. In urging all parties to afford respect for due process in relation to the commutation of the former PM’s sentence, the Malaysian Corruption Watch (MCW) said Najib should be given a chance at redemption and rehabilitation just as everyone else.

Anwar’s outstanding leadership poses challenge in finding successor within PKR: Key figures like Rafizi Ramli and Amirudin Shari emerge as potential candidates for the number two position.
Political analyst Associate Professor Dr Mazlan Ali from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) noted Anwar’s current success poses a significant challenge for party, it needs someone charismatic & capable to continue his legacy, especially for crucial ‘number two’ position within the party.
Mazlan explained a well-structured power transition plan is essential for any political party to provide confidence to voters & the public. He pointed out while Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail are often mentioned as possible successors, other names, particularly Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari &
Speaker of Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Johari Abdul, should also be considered.
“The excellence, performance, and achievements of Anwar have made it difficult for anyone to clearly emerge as his successor within PKR. His leadership has created a gap in party, & PKR now reassess who can step up to fill role,” Mazlan said. “Be4 Anwar became PM, people viewed Rafizi likely candidate for president is now no longer the case. The question now is whether Rafizi can reach Anwar’s level of leadership, or if PKR should consider other candidates like Amirudin, who is seen by many as a future leader for the party.”
He added PKR now needs to reassess its potential leaders to succeed Anwar, as current deputy appears unable to match the president’s performance. “latest is means PKR is more open to other leaders within party may offer themselves to run for deputy president position and continue Anwar’s legacy.”

The M'sian authorities quietly presented the director Amanda Nell Eu with an ultimatum: They would submit her film “Tiger Stripes” to the 2024 Academy Awards only if scenes they deemed inappropriate were cut for local audiences.
“Tiger Stripes,” follows a rebellious girl who gets her period, was riding high after winning grand prize at the 2023 Cannes Critics’ Week. It needed a theatrical run in Malaysia of @least 7 days to become eligible for Oscars. So Eu agreed, reluctantly, but publicly denounced the domestic version.
Eu, 39, said in a recent interview that her film is about a young girl’s fight for the freedom to express herself, and the cuts for the domestic release destroyed its essence.
