KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here today ordered the transfer of a 9,723sq m parcel of land in the capital to Umno.

The order was issued by Judge Roz Mawar Rozain after Umno's counsel, Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, informed the court that Umno and the Federal Territory Land and Mines Office had reached a settlement for the land to be transferred.

In her consent judgment, Roz Mawar said the property, identified as Grant 78154, Lot 40, Section 51, Kuala Lumpur & registered under (Tun) Daim Zainuddin, Datuk (now Tun) Musa Hitam, Datuk Seri (now Tun) Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri (later Tan Sri) Sanusi Junid as trustees, was held in trust for the benefit of Umno. "The land registered under the names of trustees shall be vested & registered under Umno with full rights, interest &  ownership in accordance with Section 9(b) of the Societies Act 1966.

"The Federal Territory Registrar of Titles or Land Administrator must execute and register the vesting of the said land within 30 days, pursuant to Section 420 of the National Land Code 1965," she said. Speaking to reporters later, Hafarizam said the land was better known as the site of the Seri Pacific Hotel. "With this order, all issues surrounding the ownership of (the hotel) are resolved," he said. On the trustees' alleged refusal to transfer ownership, Hafarizam said the court's order put the matter to rest. "This ruling renders the ongoing polemic over whether the trustees signed the transfer moot. The court granted our application with the Land and Mines Office's consent, allowing the property to be transferred from the four trustees to Umno," he said.

He added that order takes effect immediately & must be implemented within 30 days. On March 6, Umno executive secretary Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan filed an originating summons naming the Federal Territory Land and Mines registrar as sole defendant. In the
suit, Umno sought a court order for ownership of land to be transferred to party pursuant to Clause 27.1 of Umno's Constitution & Section 9 of the Societies Act 1966. Umno asked Federal Territory Registrar of Titles or Land Administrator execute transfer by entering a memorial in land title document.

In his supporting affidavit, Sumali said based on Form Schedule 17, application for consent to transfer dated Oct 27, 2015, had been signed by all 4 trustees, along with a statutory declaration dated Oct 22, 2015. "Two of the trustees have since passed away Sanusi on March 9, 2018, and Daim on Nov 13, 2024. Daim's death was widely reported across offline and online platforms, including social media, news portals, newspapers, radio and television," said Hazira. Sumali added that Umno's office bearers, including its president, deputy president and secretary-general, had agreed via a statutory declaration dated Dec 10, 2015, to re-register the land under the party's name.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — PAS today said it does not support a social media post by one of its leaders questioned the appointment of Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng as a Lieutenant General in the Malaysian Armed Forces.

In a press statement, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the post was the personal opinion of the individual involved and “entirely contrary” to PAS’ policies and values.
“Appointment of Datuk Johnny Lim is a historic event that should be celebrated by all Malaysians, not questioned, much less belittled simply b''cos of his ethnic background,” he said.

Takiyuddin said PAS has long-standing commitment to Malaysia’s multiracial society and warned members against making divisive remarks. “Racism or racial prejudice in any form has no place in PAS,” he added.

submitted by other ministries, as well as sentiments of Cabinet, he said.

The RTS Link Project is a railway shuttle link approximately 4km length with two stations, one in Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru, Malaysia and one in Woodlands, Singapore.

The link will be a modern Light Rail Transit (LRT) system that will provide high volume, fast and efficient transportation system between the two stations.

The link will be integrated with public transport systems at both stations, providing an alternative means of transportation that will help alleviate the congestion at immigration checkpoints for both countries.

The link will have a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour, per direction and an expected ridership of about 40,000 passengers per day upon opening.

As an international link between Malaysia and Singapore, the RTS Link Project includes the building of a new Immigration, Customs and Quarantine (ICQ) facility next to the station at Bukit Chagar. Similarly, the RTS Link Station in Woodlands North in Singapore will also have Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities.

What is unique is that the Malaysian ICQ and Singaporean CIQ facilities will be co-located within the same building. This will allow the entire immigration process of leaving and entering both countries to be completed at the departing station.

Upon arrival, passenger will just leave the station without needing to go through border crossing formalities again.

SINGAPORE: The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link marked another milestone with the unveiling of the line's first train on Monday (Jun 30).

Manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), each train will have a standing capacity of 607 passengers, and can carry up to about 1,000 passengers at peak hours.

The first trains will depart from each end of the line at 6am, while the last trains will depart at 12am each day. The line is expected to have a peak capacity of 10,000 passengers an hour in each direction.

The 4km journey between Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru will take about 5 minutes, with the shortest wait for a train being 3.6 minutes.

There will be a total of eight trains when the RTS Link starts service at the target date of December 2026, the transport ministries of Singapore and Malaysia said in a joint press statement.

The first train was assembled at CRRC's facility in China, and delivered to Jurong Port on Apr 3. Since then, it has been at the Singapore Rail Test Centre preparing for offsite system integration testing.

During this phase of testing, operator RTS Operations will check integration between the train and other rail systems, most critically the signalling system, as well as platform screen doors and onboard communications.

Offsite testing will start in July and take about four months, before the train is moved to the RTS Link tracks for onsite testing with the seven other trains.

Of the remaining seven trains, four have been delivered to CRRC's facility in Malaysia's Batu Gajah and are being assembled there. This process will be replicated for the last three trains.

He added that in a world of increasing trade protectionism, the RTS Link showcased what could be achieved when countries work together.

"While in other parts of the world, people are busy setting up more barriers, here we are breaking down barriers, building more connectivity," he said.
