Actually, Putin has been saying that Russia is NOT at war with Ukraine / Ukrainian people.
Russia is only at war with the Neo Nazis & the Zelensky gov that support the Neo Nazis

It wants to persuade Ukrainian commanders to come to its side, and to ditch the Neo Nazis
Only then can the conflict end quickly & a new Ukraine under the helm of these commanders

The ISS is the last remaining bit of Russia-West collaboration still intact
At the personal level there is no quarel.
Its the West politicians that harbour deep VENGEANCE towards Russia, which has been going on for decades. For some reasons, they despise Russia and look for the slightest bit of excuse to hammer Russia. They want to destroy Russian nation using Nato.
Ordinary Russians feel it. Of course Putin knows it and prepared for it. If the fight is inevitable, strike first.
So, don't think that Russia has not anticipated all these. We will see the STRATEGIC retaliation come to being in the coming weeks.
