Driver failed to look out for 15-year-old jaywalker, causing his death after accident along Queensway

Even though it was green light for vehicles and red for pedestrians, the boy started crossing the road and reached the second lane of the road when Tan Joo Sing’s car hit him.

A car is a dangerous weapon when in the hands of a reckless or inconsiderate driver. Therefore, the duty of care is always with the person behind the wheel. In this case, he is less culpable because the teenager was jaywalking.

In this case, because the driver was less culpable, can just lop off one testicle, similar to that one ball student in the news a few days ago.

If we introduce mandatory castration for rash and reckless driving, as well as for drink driving, confirm pruss chop all these accidents will be reduced to a bare minimum.

While seemingly draconian, these measures will definitely help save lives.

Most of our drivers appear to be rather impatient so they don't slow down when approaching pedestrian crossings, or take a cursory glance before accelerating away. Unfortunately, there seems to be many jaywalkers in SG who are often engrossed on their phones as they cross the road, believing that they have the right of way at all pedestrian crossings.

The boy’s parent must thank MP Amy Khor for International Standards road in Singapore.

if green light the car cross also wrong then what to follow?
the jay walker has to take 90% responsibility for not following traffic light.
the driver 5% for not detecting in time. unfortunate. road builder should take 5% responsibility for not building road for human and vehicle separate. mix them sure can get hit.

road needs to be improved not keep adding speed trap, red light camera like all faults are drivers. tell me on a road that is build like can take 80kph . they put a speed camera for 60kph . is it a trap to get money.

some badly build one that needs improvement.
example the bend at pie where whitley road join pie. right bend and down slope. driver at 80kph cannot see if car stop infront suddenly.

surely lta has done a lot of good works else where. these are just some improvement that can do to help.
lornie road and pie junction also cannot cope with the traffice at peak hr aleady.

Depends on the situation whether the driver is really culpable or not. Even if the deceased was jaywalking, the driver should slow down if he saw him. So, it all depends on whether the driver was given enough reaction time to slow down.
