That CNN reporter forget to mention a recent history after the end of last Cold War....that Russia asked US to stop deploying missiles in Poland and other new-NATO states. That was promptly ignored by Washington as they just justify the missile deployment next to Russia are "defense" against Iranian ballistic missile. That was when the Russian realised they were fooled.
