No way, too hot…I went there for business trip, before touchdown, from the flight I saw highways outside Dubai covered with sands after sandstorms, cleaners sweeping the highway.

Average temperature is 50 degree, so I could only go out after dark, still very hot.

Other than that there are many skyscrapers and a big mall with a snow city in the middle where kids can skate.

Majority of people are foreigners from India, Pakistan and the Philippines, more than locals and they get paid much less than locals, there’re no working visas in UAE, so these people working there are all on tourists visas, must leave UAE and get in every 6 months.

Listen to the benefits of their citizens.

Foreigners are treated differently from locals, are paid less, locals look down on foreign workers.

Well said, unlike in Spore over there there is a caste system, foreigners are treated like dirts.

Even if treated as second class also no no no. I tell you a secret, most of the Arab citizens owned businesses, land and other assets in the country but they seldom stay there. They are mostly staying in Europe or enjoying lives in other comfortable countries ....... Rolleyes

I remember an Indian engineer who worked there telling me that is so hot that when he went to the site for inspection, and he wears what the locals wear, white overall shirts and pants.  They would douse themselves with water over their bodies and clothes, and when they returned to their office, it becomes bone dry..... Good for short vacation, not recommended to live there. The whole city only has 2-3 main streets along the coastline, MRT line is on one of them. Not much to do and to see. I stayed at Shangri-La hotel there, very hot and dry. Airport was built like a big tent.

Because they have lots of money, they built a lot of impressive buildings there.

Economically no way it can be compared with Spore.

When I was in Dubai, I could hardly see any Arabs in the streets except for the mall, they look very proud and snobbish while walk in the mall

Just give you example of living in Dubai

Case 1: One Arab lady drove and hit a Ang Mo car at the back, the angmo loss the case and damages were claimed from angmo insurance

case 2: One angmo drove and accidentally hit an arab lady crossing the road, the lady was only brushed. The Angmo immediately drove back home, took his passport and leave Dubai

does that answer your question?

If just want to live there as a foreigner, not bad I guess. But to obtain citizenship is tough. You need to be someone they really want. Like a scientist, doctor, investor etc. If you are a retiree, then you most probably have to go the investor route if you have loads of money to spare. Else, you need to go back to work as maybe an artist, scientist, inventor, specialist or whatever you used to be to try to get citizenship.

We are a world’s financial centre with banking, technology, medical, oil refinery and services. Dubai has nothing other than oil and money. Shopping wise also not much to buy, I bought a box of dates. Big Grin

All the cab drivers are foreigners, locals dunt have to work yet have lots of money….good welfare.

Unless you are super rich, otherwise you will be looked down by locals. Even rich Sporeans go there also can’t beat the wealth of locals.
