Russia threatens Norway with consequences for blocking freight transport
#1

Norway prevented the loading of a ship intended for Svalbard at the Storskog land border crossing point, with reference to EU sanctions because of the Russian military operation in Ukraine . According to the Russian consul on the Arctic archipelago, Sergei Gushchin, it is about 20 tons of goods, including seven tons of food, spare parts and important winter equipment. "I think Norway didn't think well when joining the EU sanctions," Gushchin said.

The Spitsbergen archipelago is part of Norway . However, an international treaty concluded in Paris in 1920 grants a number of countries, including Russia, the right to mine raw materials there.
