EU threatened to impose high tax on EV cars from China, China just said, then, China withdraws all investment of car joint venture projects in EU.

EU got a shock and quickly withdrew all tax barrier proposal.

EU has no technology, without China, EU can't make such cars lah.

When Beijing issue a directive on investing overseas by major Chinese coy, you shouldn't be surprise how quickly the reaction is.

The problem is this directive does not only impact the Chinese, but pretty much rest of the World including supply chain, jobs and future technology transfer. Big Grin

SVOLT Energy Technology, an affiliate of Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor, will end the operations of SVOLT Energy Technology (Europe) and German subsidiaries by January 2025, and lay off an undisclosed number of staff, a source familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia.

The Fun Fact is it is the Europeans themselves who started tariff against Chinese product.

This is not news. - Over 10 years ago, EU did the same thing against Made-in-China solar panels in 2013 at nearly 50% tax.

We all can see the Double Standard angmoh countries when they cannot compete.

From Asian POV, it is simply because the West has got too used to being the "leader" and "winner" in trade and they cannot accept non-Westerns overtaking them.

Need some lesson. China has the liberty to shut down overseas plants but tt is not solving the trade problem. It is to increase the level of trade barriers. It might even result Chinese EV being banned. Dun play play.

So I am not sure what "lesson" revealer is talking about  Big Grin

FACT is the ONLY lesson Western countries understand is when their own industries and economy are hampered by their short-sight policies, fear of competition and gov stupidity.

For 30 years , the Germans VW, Benz, BMW and Italian Porsche and Lambo  car makers had been making billion$ in the Chinese market and gotten complacent....

Now they blame China for "over capacity" ?  LOL !!
