Lai Peixia's father, who has a mixed-race face, was an American soldier. He was stationed in Taiwan during the Vietnam War and met Lai Peixia's mother.

Later, her mother gave birth to a child out of wedlock and raised Lai Peixia alone, while her biological father returned to the United States after the Vietnam War.
