My parents may be elderly retirees, but they remain alert, suspicious and ultra cautious.  They refuse to answer any calls on their mobile phones if the number is not in their directory.  If there is a call on their land line from a stranger or a recorded message, they hang up immediately.  My dad says that even if it's just from a salesperson and not a scammer, he is not interested.  They don't order anything online, and they believe that if a bargain sounds "too good to be true", then it is indeed too good to be true.  LOL!
