$1800 for Air Asia compared to $15 for Lion Air is a big difference.

While the fine print is there to state the charges, I doubt many read it. I guess it is good that such news came out so that people start reading the fine print of the airline they are buying tickets from. Or just avoid Air Asia.

AirAsia cannot have free check in lugguage?

No idea. I have never flown with AirAsia. According to the article, if they prepaid online instead of doing it at the airport, it will be a lot cheaper.

No! All budget airlines will charge you for check in baggage! Only hand luggage no charges but must be of a certain size - and let me emphasise - SMALL SIZE!

After comparing the hidden charges unless you bring along one "briefcase" of clothes then normal airlines much better.

Ok must know two sides of a story - I have been told these people might have extra luggage hoping to bring into the aircraft but exceeded the size during check in. When you buy the ticket there's an option to purchase checking in luggage - that one is reasonable. But many flout the rules buy bringing into the plane a few luggage which is not allowed. For budget airline only 1 hand luggage per passenger.

Some of these passengers can ve really sly - always trying and testing the limit!

Do you know last minute check in the price could be exorbitant- not only Air Asia bit all budget airlines! That's how they earn money from those who try to flout the system by being cheap!

Check-in luggage must all be paid for (for airasia), it's only a matter of whether you pre-paid it. Can be quite expensive if you don't.

But Air Asia sometimes is a bit too much. They even weigh my hand-carry. Even though it is legitimate (since they have the prerogative) it shows that they are looking for ways to squeeze money out from customers.

Hand carry luggage max is 7 kg. So got to weigh esp for Sinkees. Easy money to extract from Sinkees

I know the limit. But I feel they should be generous about it.

This is how they keep the low-cost business model with ticket prices cheaper than the normal airlines.  There will be some passengers who make last-minute purchases or order on-board services and do not mind paying higher costs.  If everyone keeps to SOP,  they will probably just make even.  The other way to save cost is to use older second-hand aircraft.

Omni is in my ignored list. This works well like he always bumps my post for me all the time. Thank u Omni.
