Hawker Seah Kian Huat, 64, hurled vulgarities at a safe distancing enforcement officer who told him to put on a mask and avoid sitting on a marked seat at Yuhua Village Food Centre in Jurong East.
His son, Roger Seah Hong Chiat,40, who was helping his father at the stall, joined in and swore at the man when he saw the commotion.
They are fined $3,000 each yesterday for abusive behaviour towards a public servant....

Father and son deserve it. Safe distancing officer job has many occupational hazards so laws should protect them if they are carrying out enforcement. Most people who don't don mask are problematic and selfish.

They deserved to be fined big time for not wearing masks when they are preparing foods. I saw such scenario once before when I was at a hawker ctr. The officer was telling fruit juice hawker to wear mask and he turned verbally abusive. Such hawkers cannot give them chance.

Maybe they need to drink more cooling tea... stressed from being hawker in endemic certainly hard to cope... but still not an excuse to hurl vulgarities to mask up... just a gentle reminder...

I hv seen some of them are very commanding and rude. They thought they are very special Govt authorities. There bound to have done rotten eggs.

Good. They deserved it. I believed they are rich enough to pay the fines. 2nd time violations, they wil pay triple fines. I don’t patronise such stalls who are so boastful even their foods are nice.
