A leading Iranian military official has warned Iran will close the vital Strait of Hormuz if it deems it necessary to protect its interests.

Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, told the Lebanese broadcaster al-Meyadeen that his country has the capability to shut off the Middle East Gulf passage so crucial to tankers and other vessels.

During the last almost 50 years, there has been massive persecution of Iranians who converted to Christianity. The people are not allowed to possess a Bible in the national language of Farsi. Sharing the Christian faith with others is not permitted. Christians are arrested, tortured and imprisoned. The govt has put Christians to death for preaching and spreading the gospel. The authorities refuse to recognise Iranian converts to Christianity and doesn't allow them religious freedom. Under such persecution, it is shocking that in the past 10 years, Iran has been 1 of the fastest growing churches globally. There are an estimated 1 million or more Iranian converts to Christianity. Afghanistan has a fast growing church as well, influenced by Iranian Christians who share a similar language which helps to spread the gospel. Both Iranians and Afghans are sick and tired of a religion that serves only to oppress them.
