Have you encountered this before?
I always find this lecture delivered by parents to their children not finishing their food to be nonsensical and illogical.
So if I finish my food, children in Africa and India will receive a lot of food and stop starving?
Not as if I can tar pow the food that I cant finish and deliver it to the starving children in Africa and India, right?

Parents want their children to understand and appreciate the privilege of having enough food in S'pore. By highlighting the plight of children who are starving in certain Third World countries, parents hope to foster empathy and compassion in their children as well as to be thankful that we have enough to eat here.

I thought parents said that Ah Neh will catch you. Nowadays, it is if you don't study hard and obtain higher qualifications, CECAs will come to take away your job.
