Like it or not ageism is real. Employers routinely lay off seniors in their ranks even when they have not reached the official retirement age. Removing older staff from their jobs after they have crossed a defined age may lead to companies losing some of their most valuable assets. Experienced managers are usually the most acquainted with how their organisations function, and are more likely to preempt problems than newer staff.
