Fraud spreads to all passenger car companies, damaging Japan's brand

On the 3rd, the series of certification frauds at Daihatsu Motor Co., Toyota Industries Corporation, and other automakers were found to have also been found at Toyota Motor Corporation, Honda Motor Co., Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Mazda Motor Corporation, all of which are representative of Japanese companies, as a result of an investigation conducted under instructions from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism.

Among the eight major Japanese passenger car makers, Mitsubishi Motors was found to have engaged in fraudulent activities in making fuel economy figures appear higher in 2016. 

In 2017, Nissan Motors was found to have engaged in fraudulent activities in its final inspections before shipping, and Subaru was also found to have engaged in fraudulent activities in its final inspections.
