2. Provide care for the elderly who need help. Many cannot afford care in nursing homes and their children are too poor to even support their own family hence are unable to support ageing parents. Financial assistance is needed for such families and govt has to provide care for elderly.

This is one of the reasons why we need to raise GST.

Since the land belongs to all citizens . It should be offered free while you charge a basic medical , care giving and facility maintaining fee. It shouldn't be profiteering from citizens nearing to to graveyard.It should act as a public service . While those who desires to be atas , option to have private nursing home.

The answers to all your irrelevant questions are yes, yes, yes ....and yes.

And I will tell you what means test is.

It means (pun not intended) that if it costs $4000 a month, and you can only afford to pay $2200 a month, the government will pay the other $1800.  If you can afford all $4000, you get no subsidy.   If you have no money at all (destitute), you stay FREE OF CHARGE.  I am telling you facts. Believe or not that's up to you, I am not going to argue with someone who knows nuts.

People stay in JB because our nursing homes are either full, or if they still have beds, they don't have workers and are unable to take in more residents.   There is no choice.

The government is trying to double the number of elder care facilities by 2025.  That is very ambitious.  To do this, they need to also relax the quota to take in more foreign workers from Myanmar, India, Malaysia and the Philippines.  The countries in bold are currently our main sources of workers.

Our medical costs have risen so much. It seems like we are blindly following US style of medical cost which is not sustainable. Singapore is not built by LKY blindly following the West.
