Pledging loyalty to US

"We have stayed invested in the US through thick and thin, because of its vital role in the world economy. And we continue to have faith in the US economy's vibrance, dynamism, and sheer resilience."

While the article itself is a straightforward report, the potential "bullshit" or contentious aspects might lie in the underlying implications or framing of the message. Here are some possible critiques:

### 1. **Vague Definition of "Good Character"**
   - The term "good character" is subjective and politically loaded. The PAP often frames itself as the only party capable of providing "clean" and "competent" governance, implying that opposition leaders lack these qualities without explicit evidence. This is a common rhetorical strategy to delegitimize opponents.

### 2. **Assumption That PAP Leaders Are Inherently of "Good Character"**
   - The PAP has had its share of scandals (e.g., recent corruption cases involving senior officials like Iswaran, or the affair between Cheng Li Hui and Tan Chuan-Jin). The claim to moral superiority can be seen as hypocritical or overly self-congratulatory.

### 3. **Ignoring Systemic Advantages**
   - The PAP benefits from systemic advantages (e.g., control over state media, gerrymandering, restrictive election laws) that make it easier to portray itself as the only "good" choice. The call to "choose leaders of good character" sidesteps these structural inequalities.

### 4. **Implied Opposition "Bad Character" Strawman**
   - The message subtly paints opposition leaders as lacking in character without naming specifics. This is a classic strawman tactic—creating a false dichotomy where only PAP leaders are virtuous.

### 5. **Overemphasis on Individual Morality Over Policy**
   - Focusing on "character" distracts from substantive policy debates. Voters might care more about housing, healthcare, or inequality than vague moral claims. The PAP may be deflecting from policy shortcomings by moralizing politics.

### 6. **Lack of Context on Political Broadcast Rules**
   - The article doesn't critically examine why the PAP gets the first broadcast slot or how election rules favor the incumbent. This omission normalizes an uneven playing field.

### 7. **Uncritical Reporting**
   - The article parrots the PAP's messaging without scrutiny or balancing perspectives (e.g., opposition responses or independent analysis). This makes it seem like a PAP press release rather than journalism.

### Conclusion:
The "bullshit" isn’t necessarily in the article's facts but in the unchallenged framing of PAP's narrative. The piece could be more critical by:

   - 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝟏. 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 "𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫" 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝.

Wear white also difficult to see the character. If the campaign period is longer, maybe 2-3weeks, then people can see the character of the candidate better.

Hv seen many of those men in white showing off their arrogant and disgusting attitude and behaviours. They can do whatever they like, whilst Oppositions are not supposed to do.
