The Israelis have shown their determination to leave no hostage behind in the past. Operation Thunderbolt was the 1976 counter-terrorist mission launched in response to the hijacking of an Air France flight by Palestinian terrorists that was diverted to Uganda. More than 100 Ugandan soldiers protected the terrorists after the flight landed. The hijackers then threatened to kill the 106 Israeli hostages if their demands were not met. The Israeli military undertook a rescue operation to free the 102 Jewish hostages after killing all of the hijackers and 45 Ugandan soldiers. Only 1 Israeli commando died while 5 others were injured. Why did Hamas not learn from history?

The policy of Israel is "an eye for an eye". That is why Hamas should not have woken a sleeping giant by murdering, kidnapping, raping and torturing Israeli civilians on 7 Oct. Hamas has brought death and hardship to its people by their act of aggression. Israel has gone on the rampage to make sure Hamas learns a lesson it will not forget; it is unfortunate that Palestinian civilians were caught in the crossfire.
