A new bill is due to be urgently considered on Tuesday. The proposal aims to tighten the rules for private contributions to political work, in the form of a general ban on receiving anonymous and foreign contributions.
In a request to the Presidency of Inatsisartut, the Government of Greenland has recommended that the Presidency consider submitting a bill for consideration at the current session, whereby - with a view to protecting Greenland's political integrity - a tightening of the rules for private contributions to political work is introduced with immediate effect, in the form of a general ban on receiving anonymous and foreign contributions.
Ban will also apply to youth parties
It further states that the proposal should be seen "in light of the geopolitical interests in Greenland and the current situation where representatives of an allied great power have expressed interest in taking over and controlling Greenland".
