Hamas has proposed a ceasefire plan that would quiet the guns in Gaza for four-and-a-half months leading to an end to the war, in response to a proposal sent last week by Qatari and Egyptian mediators and backed by the US and Israel.

Israel’s war on Gaza: ICC arrest warrants sought for Israeli, Hamas leaders.

International Criminal Court chief prosecutor says he is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and three Hamas leaders.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours, the Gaza health ministry said, as Israel intensified its attacks across the enclave.

Doctors Without Borders reports that the besieged al-Awda Hospital close to Jabalia refugee camp has completely run out of drinking water.

No reason for its brutal war on Gaza.
IPC said in March that Russian and Belarusian athletes joining the Paris 2024 Paralympics would not be part of their opening ceremony.

Russian and Belarusian athletes cannot take part in team competitions at this year’s Olympics and Paralympics but are allowed to participate as neutrals – without flags or anthems being played.

Israel has killed more than 35,000 Palestinians and destroyed more than 70 percent of houses in Gaza since it launched its offensive on October 7.

20 May, 2024. As cross-border fighting escalates, far-right Israeli ministers are urging a full-scale war with Hezbollah. Ben-Gvir, Smotrich call for invasion of south Lebanon to 'destroy' Hezbollah.

Extremist Israeli ministers have called on their military to invade & occupy south Lebanon to destroy Hezbollah armed group, as cross-border fighting escalates. (Mon) Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Israel should storm Lebanon & "destroy Hezbollah in its entirety." Ben-Gvir echoed similar threats made a day earlier by Israel’s finance minister, agreed with Bezalel Smotrich’s call to forcefully push Hezbollah away from border & set up a buffer zone in southern Lebanon, such a plan "wouldn’t be enough."

"We would need to do another thing — and that’s a war that would destroy our enemies," Ben-Gvir said about Hezbollah.

"Even if they’re pushed back from the border, even if there’s a security zone, even if they move a bit — you can’t just leave people behind whose entire purpose and essence is to destroy the State of Israel," the far-right minister said.

"What they don’t do in six months they will do in a year, and what they don’t do in a year they will do in two," he added. "We must not leave this to our children. Not in south [Gaza Strip] & not in the north [Lebanon]." During a Sunday meeting of his extremist Religious Zionism party in northern Israel, Smotrich said a public ultimatum must be issued to Hezbollah to completely stop firing missiles & drones at Israel and withdraw all forces beyond Lebanon’s Litani River.

"If ultimatum is not fully met, IDF (Israeli military) will launch assault deep in Lebanese territory to defend northern communities, including ground entry & Israeli military takeover of the southern Lebanese area," warned Smotrich, who also serves in the Israeli defence ministry.

Since October 8 last year, Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah Shia has traded fire into Israeli military, resulting in deaths of over 300 people in Lebanon – mostly fighters & over a dozen Israelis.
Hezbollah says is to distraction tactic aimed at Israel’s attention away from war-battered Gaza Strip, where over 35,000 people have been killed by Israeli offensive.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has suggested he will work with lawmakers on potential sanctions against the International Criminal Court as its prosecutor seeks arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials.

Mr Blinken told a congressional hearing he was "committed" to taking action against the "profoundly wrong-headed decision".

His comments come amid a Republican push to impose sanctions on ICC officials, which may see a vote as soon as this week.

The US is not a member of the court but has backed previous prosecutions, including the ICC's arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin over the war in Ukraine.

Hostage families release clip of 5 female troops’ abduction to push for their freedom. In footage, Hamas terrorist describes the terrified, bloodied soldiers as 'women who can get pregnant'; father of Liri Albag asks: ‘What else can we do to wake the nation up?’

Hostage families release clip of 5 female troops’ abduction to push for their freedom In footage, Hamas terrorist describes the terrified, bloodied soldiers as 'women who can get pregnant'; father of Liri Albag asks: ‘What else can we do to wake the nation up?’

22 May 2024. Hostage families release clip of 5 female troops’ abduction to push for their freedom. Hostages and Missing Families Forum released harrowing footage on Wednesday showing the abduction of five female soldiers from the Nahal Oz base by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, describing the video as a “damning testament to the nation’s failure to bring home the hostages.”

The video was taken by body cameras worn by Hamas terrorists that day as they attacked the base near the Gaza border, and it shows Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Agam Berger, Daniella Gilboa, and Naama Levy. All five are still held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.

The families of the five soldiers asked to have the footage broadcast, with some of the parents saying that the goal is to wake up the nation, and especially the leadership, to work more urgently to secure their release. “I want you to broadcast this footage every day at the start of the news,” said Liri Albag’s father Eli, in the Channel 12 studio after the footage was screened, “until somebody wakes up.”

The three-minute edited video cleared for release begins inside a shelter on the base at around 9 a.m., when terrorists are tying the hands of the five young women, surveillance soldiers whose job is to monitor activity at the border and who appear shocked, horrified, wounded, and bloodied.

“I have friends in Palestine,” Levy, who participated in an Israeli-Palestinian coexistence project, says. Then Albag requests “someone who speaks English.” The terrorists respond by yelling at the captive soldiers to be quiet and ordering the group to sit down. “Our brothers died because of you. We will shoot you all,” one of the terrorists tells them.

Warning: Graphic -- One of the terrorists then asks Albag to call his friend in Gaza, though it is unclear why, while another asks where they are from, to which Berger replies she is from Tel Aviv.
The footage cuts to the terrorists praying, still in the shelter. One of the terrorists describes the hostages as “women who can get pregnant,” in a translation provided with the video.

However the term can also be translated as a “female captive.” It was also previously used by Islamic State terrorists to refer to sex slaves.
“These are the Zionists,” one says, and another says: “You are very beautiful.”

The video cuts to the terrorists bringing the soldiers outside to their vehicle, as gunfire is heard in the background. Daniella Gilboa is limping, having been injured in the leg. It then cuts again to the soldiers inside the vehicle, while terrorists yell at them. A still from footage showing the capture and abduction of Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Agam Berger, Daniela Gilboa and Naama Levy at the Nahal Oz base on October 7, 2023 (The Hostages Families Forum)
In a statement after the release of the video, President Isaac Herzog said he would continue to offer the families of hostages “strength and love.”

“The world must look at this cruel atrocity. Those who care about women’s rights must speak out. All those who believe in freedom must speak out, and do everything possible to bring all of the hostages home now,” he said.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu said he was “horrified” by the footage and vowed to do all he could to return the hostages home. “The cruelty of the Hamas terrorists only strengthens my determination to fight with all my might until Hamas is eliminated in order to ensure that what we saw this evening doesn’t happen ever again,” he wrote on X.

Many family members of the hostages have blamed Netanyahu and the government for foot-dragging that has prevented a deal to release their loved ones from being reached.

Several media commentators expressed bewilderment at how the terrorists did not appear to be in a rush to leave the base, spending time tormenting the soldiers, and slowly taking them to the vehicles undisturbed, without any sign of security forces coming to the rescue.

Nahal Oz was invaded by dozens of terrorists on October 7, and they spent some three hours at the base, Channel 12 said, without the IDF coming to the rescue, video was released ahead of a war cabinet meeting on Wednesday night and was declaredly aimed at pressuring ministers to step up efforts to reach a deal with Hamas to release the hostages. Negotiations on a truce deal have been stalled since April. The only previous deal, in November, saw 105 hostages released during a weeklong truce.

“The disturbing video has been the reality of Agam, Daniella, Liri, Naama, Karina, and 123 other hostages for 229 days,” hostages Missing Families Forum said (statement). “Video is a damning testament to the nation’s failure to bring home the hostages, who forsaken for 229 days.”

Israeli govt must not waste even one more moment – it must return to the negotiating table today!” it added.

The parents’ reasoning and Relatives of the five said that the three minutes and ten seconds of broadcast footage was heavily censored, with their oversight, for publication.Eli Albag, Liri’s father, told Channel 12 News that the original footage is over 13 minutes long. The IDF Office is understood to have made full footage available to the families, allowed them to decide what to show to the public.

“This is the most sensitive version… and still terribly harsh,” said Albag. “We are exposing ourselves and our daughters. We went back and forth over and over about whether to release it. Three of the mothers have not seen the footage, are not prepared to see the footage, cannot bear to see the girls [in the footage].”

Israel slams Germany saying it would arrest, deport Netanyahu if ICC issues warrant. German spokesperson says 'of course' when asked whether Berlin would comply with potential ICC order; spokesman for PM responds by saying 'many need to check their moral compass.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s office said Berlin would arrest & deport PM Benjamin Netanyahu if International Criminal Court implements a warrant for his arrest.

“I am old enough to remember the German leader coming here days after October 7, stating Hamas are the new Nazis. They seek a genocide against Jews. Many in the world need to check their moral compass & be on the right side of history,” govt spokesman Avi Hyman told Fox News. (It was Netanyahu, not Scholz, who said “Hamas are the new Nazis” during German chancellor’s visit to Israel.) when asked

On Wednesday whether Berlin would execute a potential ICC arrest order, German spokesman Steffen Hebestreit responded, “Of course. Yes, we abide by the law.” Israel’s ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, also decried the statement in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Israel’s National Security Council and Foreign Ministry issue a joint statement responding to the International Court of Justice’s ruling ordering Israel to halt Rafah operations that risk the destruction of the civilian population in the southern Gaza city.

The Israeli statement says the charges of genocide brought by South Africa against Israel at the ICJ in The Hague are “false, outrageous and morally repugnant.”

It adds: “Following the horrific attack against the citizens of Israel on October 7th, 2023, Israel embarked upon a defensive and just war to eliminate Hamas and to secure the release of our hostages. Israel is acting based on its right to defend its territory and its citizens, consistent with its moral values and in compliance with international law, including international humanitarian law.

IDF deploys additional brigade to Rafah as troops find tunnels, weapons, terror operatives in southern Gaza. The Bislamach Brigade — School for Infantry Corps Professions & Squad Commanders during war time — joins the 162nd Division’s other brigades that have been operating in Rafah since earlier this month.

The military says it operated along the Philadelphi Corridor overnight, following information on infrastructure belonging to terror groups in the area. The IDF says troops located tunnels, weapons, and killed numerous operatives in the Rafah area.

Dozens of sites belonging to terror groups were destroyed during operations in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya, according to the IDF, the sites in Jabaliya include observation posts, weapon depots, and a building used by Hamas.

Several operatives were killed by troops in Jabaliya in the past day, including a mortar-launching cell that was struck by a fighter jet, the military says. & in central Gaza, IDF says it has expanded ops in Netzarim Corridor area, killing operatives and raiding Hamas sites.

Iran behind attacks on Israeli embassies in Europe, Mossad.

Iran is behind a string of terror attacks on Israeli embassies by criminal networks in Europe since Oct 7, Mossad intelligence agency official says.

The agency opened up investigation alongside Euro counterparts after an explosive device, said is a hand grenade, was found inside grounds of the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm in January & destroyed by Swedish national bomb squad.

After interrogating suspects & examining forensic evidence, investigators concluded that Foxtrot organized crime ring in Sweden was behind the attack, at Iran’s behest, according to the Mossad.

Foxtrot leader Rawa Majid — known as “the Kurdish Fox” — has been working with Iran for mths, Israel alleges. He was recruited by Iranian agents after he fled to Iran from Turkey in September of last year, pursued by international law enforcement and Iraqi security forces.

He was arrested by Iran and recruited to plan a string of attacks in Europe against Jewish and Israeli targets, according to the Mossad.

There have been dozens of Iran-backed terror plots against Jewish & Israeli targets uncovered in recent months, says the Israeli agency, many of which used local criminal networks.

On May 17, Swedish police heard gunshots late at night near Israeli embassy. They detained a 14-yr-old boy in connection to shooting & made known to the Israeli embassy was the target.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_e...d-charges/

That shooting was carried out by the Rumba crime group, said the Mossad, headed by Majid’s rival Ismail Abdo and also directed by Iran.

“Iran operates many criminal organizations in Sweden and Europe in general, while taking advantage of the relative advantage of each and sometimes the rivalry between them,” says the Israeli official.

Foxtrot and Rumba receive funding and direction directly from Iran, the Mossad alleged, and are closely monitored by European intelligence.

The spy agency also accuses Iran of trying to take advantage of rising antisemitism in Europe while avoiding direct responsibility for attacks.

Police say forces are “evacuating homes, directing traffic, conducting scans of various areas while firefighters aided by others are helping douse flames.” As fires rage in northern Israel after rocket hit key roads, it closed off as a result of rocket attacks and drone attacks from Lebanon today. A number of homes are reported on fire in Kiryat Shmona, with fire teams spread throughout the mostly evacuated city to control the flames.

In Kibbutz Kfar GIladi, north of the city, video shared on social media shows a local security team battling flames encroaching on the community. Fires are also reported in the Mount Adir and Amiad areas, leading to closures of major roads in the Galilee area. Backup teams are being dispatched from other regions to provide assistance.

Iranian military adviser killed in Syria, reports say, two months after Iran and Israel came close to war.  Israeli airstrikes near the Syrian city of Aleppo early Monday killed an Iranian military adviser, Iranian media reported, two months after the Middle East came to the brink of a major war as Israel and Iran engaged in unprecedented direct attacks on each other’s soil.

Saeed Abiyar, an adviser to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Syria, died in the attack, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

Syrian state news agency SANA said the incident occurred around 12.20 a.m. local time on Monday after Israel launched an aerial attack with missiles, targeting “a number of points” in the vicinity of Aleppo, without providing information on fatalities. CNN has requested comment from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which does not usually acknowledge such strikes

Abiyar is first member of the IRGC to be reported killed by Israel since April, when Israel suspected to have bombed Iranian embassy compound in Damascus, killing several commanders, including top IRGC commander in charge of relations with Syria and Lebanon.

Islamic Republic retaliated to attack by launching a barrage of drones and missiles toward Israel, most of which were intercepted. Israel fired back, a US official told CNN, targeting a major Iranian military airbase near the city of Isfahan.

Iran has deployed military advisers to Syria in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since civil war broke out there in 2011. Israel is believed to have launched several strikes on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria in recent years, particularly since the start of its war with Hamas in Gaza. It has warned that Iran is turning it into “a base for aggression against Israel.”

Most eight months the fighting between Israel and the Lebanese armed group, a Hamas ally, has intensified over the past week, with Israel striking deeper into Lebanese territory, raising concerns that an even wider conflict could break out between the heavily armed adversaries.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in heavy Israeli bombardment of the central Gaza Strip, as US, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators plan to resume talks on a proposed ceasefire and captive release deal. Israel rescues four hostages in raid that Hamas claims kills 210

Israel's military operation to free four hostages from Hamas has been the deadliest of the 8-month-long war, with hundreds of Palestinians killed and wounded.

JERUSALEM: Israeli forces rescued four hostages held by Hamas since October in a raid in Gaza on Saturday (Jun 8) that Palestinian officials said killed more than 200 people, one of the single bloodiest Israeli assaults of the eight-month-old war.

The hostage rescue operation and an intense accompanying air assault took place in central Gaza's al-Nuseirat, a densely built-up and often embattled area in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian territory's ruling militant group.

An Israeli military spokesperson said the operation took place in the heart of a residential neighbourhood in Nuseirat where Hamas had kept the hostages in two separate apartment blocks. Israel's forces came under intense fire during the assault and responded by firing "from the air and from the street", the spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said.

"We know about under 100 (Palestinian) casualties. I don't know how many from them are terrorists," he said in a briefing with journalists. An Israeli special forces commander was killed during the operation, a police statement said.
