Hamas proposes 3-stage ceasefire over 135 days, leading to end of war

Infected wounds, maggots and no escape. Gaza’s humanitarian crisis hits new lows as sanitary conditions plummet. A 14-year-old boy lies in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza Strip, severely burned from Israeli airstrike. Doc say nearly his entire body is affected. His wounds have now become infested with maggots.

“(He has) advanced second- and third-degree burns covering 80% to 90% of his body,” Dr. Mahmoud Yousef Mughani, a doctor specializing in reconstructive surgery and burns, told CNN. Due to a shortage of sterilization supplies, his wounds can’t be cleaned properly.

When boy’s dressings are changed, maggots fall to floor happens every time, Dr. Mughani said.
There’s nowhere else for boy to go. According to United Nations, an estimated 12,000 patients are waiting to leave Gaza to receive urgently needed medical care, but medical evacuations have been suspended since closure of the Rafah crossing with Egypt four months ago.

This case is a testament to the deteriorating sanitary conditions for the Palestinians trapped in the besieged enclave after 11 months of war, both within and outside hospitals.

Israeli special forces 'raid missile site in Syria

Details are emerging of an apparent raid by Israeli special forces on a "Hezbollah missile production facility" in Syria. Israel's govt said nothing about the op according to US media reports, took place in Syrian, 18 people were killed in Monday raid near Syrian city of Masyaf - 25 miles (40km) north of Lebanese border - several dozen were injured.
According to New York Times, special forces descended from helicopters, placed explosives inside Iranian-built facility removed sensitive information. U.S.A. & other officials quoted, paint a picture of daring op, designed to destroy under - ground military facility. Air strikes were apparently used to neutralise Syria’s defences & prevent reinforcements reaching site. Separately, a report by Axios news - citing 3-sources said familiar with the operation - says the elite Shaldag unit of the Israeli Air Force carried out raid. Axios reports Israel informed US before op was slated to take place, and was not met with any resistance from the White House.

Israel's govt has not commented, raid seems to have been designed to prevent Iran supplying precision missiles to Hezbollah, Lebanones is ok for Israel to attacked the facility, even 6-yrs ago,  mounted dozens of air strikes against Syria since the war in Gaza began almost a year ago, putting Israeli troops on ground inside Syria is highly unusual. This would be one of the most sophisticated operations of its kind in years.

This resulted in destruction of about 140 targets, including weapons depots, vehicles and Iran-backed militia HQ, the strikes have so far killed at least 208 fighters - 46 members of Syrian govt forces, 43 members of Hezbollah & 24 Iranian Revolutionary Guards

At least nine people, including a girl, have been killed and 2,750 wounded in simultaneous explosions of pagers used by Hezbollah members across Lebanon. Lebanese group says it holds Israel “fully responsible” for the deadly blasts

Unlikely pager batteries alone caused deaths and injuries. Experts were mystified by the explosions in Lebanon but some doubted the battery itself would have been enough to cause blasts. Paul Christensen, an expert in lithium-ion battery safety at Newcastle Uni, said level of damage caused by pager blasts seemed inconsistent with known cases of such batteries failing in the past. “What we’re talking about is a relatively small battery bursting into flames. We’re not talking of a fatal explosion here. I’d need to know about energy density of batteries, but my intuition is telling me that it’s highly unlikely,” he said.

SMEX, a Lebanese digital organisation, said Israel could have exploited a weakness in device to cause it to explode, pagers could also have been intercepted b4 reaching Hezbollah & either tampered with electronically or implanted with explosive device. Israeli intelligence forces have previously placed explosives in personal phones to target enemies. Hackers also demonstrated ability to inject malicious code into devices, causing them to overheat explode in some instances.

Israel's spy agency Mossad planted explosives in Hezbollah pagers, reports say. A senior Lebanese security source tells Reuters the pagers were brought into the country months ago

Separately, Israeli and US sources say Israel detonated the pagers earlier than planned, fearing that Hezbollah had become aware of the plan. The pagers seemed to carry a Taiwanese brand - but Taiwanese firm Gold Apollo denies involvement, saying pagers were made by a Hungarian firm it signed a deal with at least 9-people were killed & thousands injured when pagers went off.

A munition expert tells BBC, devices were likely packed with up to 20 grams of military-grade high explosive.

How Israel Built a Modern-Day Trojan Horse: Exploding Pagers. The Israeli government did not tamper with the Hezbollah devices that exploded, defense and intelligence officials say. It manufactured them as part of an elaborate ruse.
As pagers began beeping after 3:30  afternoon in Lebanon on Tuesday, alerting Hezbollah operatives send message from their leadership in a chorus of chimes, melodies, and buzzes.B ut it wasn’t the militants’ leaders. The pagers had been sent by Hezbollah’s archenemy, and within seconds the alerts were followed by the sounds of explosions and cries of pain and panic in streets, shops and homes across Lebanon.

Powered by just a few ounces of an explosive compound concealed within the devices, the blasts sent grown men flying off motorcycles and slamming into walls, according to witnesses and video footage. People out shopping fell to the ground, writhing in agony, smoke snaking from their pockets. But it wasn’t the militants’ leaders.

Mohammed Awada, 52, and his son were driving by one man whose pager exploded, he said. “My son went crazy and started to scream when he saw the man’s hand flying away from him,” he said. By the end of the day, @least dozen people were dead and more than 2,700 were wounded, many of them maimed following day, 20 more people were killed & hundreds wounded when walkie-talkies in Lebanon also began mysteriously exploding. Some of the dead and wounded were Hezbollah members, but others were not; four of the dead were children.

Israel has neither confirmed nor denied any role in the explosions, but 12 current and former defense and intelligence officials who were briefed on the attack say the Israelis were behind it, describing the operation as complex long in the making. They spoke to New York Times on condition of anonymity, given sensitivity of the subject.

Hezbollah names 15 more members killed in airstrike, including a senior commander.
Overnight, Hezbollah named 15 members of the terror group killed in yesterday’s Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, alongside top commander Ibrahim Aqil.

One of those named by Hezbollah, Ahmed Wahabi, is identified by the terror group as a “commander.” Hezbollah rarely refers to its senior operatives slain in Israeli strikes as commanders.

Senior US officials have expressed skepticism about introducing a new proposal for a hostage deal in the coming days. The US is still coordinating with Qatar and Egypt on a draft, but President Joe Biden’s senior advisers are debating whether it is worthwhile to table such a proposal as the gaps between Hamas and Israel continue to grow.

White House has been reassessing its approach to the negotiations aimed at securing the release of hostages and implementing a ceasefire in Gaza. Some of Biden’s senior advisers are questioning the effectiveness of presenting a new mediation proposal, as the differences between Hamas and Israel seem to be widening, according to senior American officials.

Hezbollah is not Hamas. Can Israel afford another all-out war?.

Hezbollah first fired at Israel to protest the war in Gaza, demanding a ceasefire there as a condition to end its attacks. The stakes were raised last week when Israel injured thousands of people across Lebanon, detonating pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah. Escalating exchanges of fire have followed.

Should Israel enter full-scale war with Hezbollah, experts say it will face a much stronger threat than Hamas – and commensurate costs.
