Unthinkable for telling Asean to choose between US and China was bad.

Flip flop
Saying Singapore doesn't take sides .
Singapore based on Principles is worse.

Even his own laopek also epic fail on this and claimed before hao CCP will never become a threat to the region one.

In term of red dot-US diplomacy and relationship Pinky actually only want to use US military protection nia, but economically and regional diplomacy had never really been on US side. oO rather because of pre-Trump era US's panda-friendly policies, our higher mortals had always underestimated US willingness to confront CCP especially on it's SCS ambitions and not really prepared for potential trade war and even possible military conflicts between US and CCP in the region until nao.

Temasek actually invested alot of money in US technology companies and many turned turtle. One prime example is Micropolis in the early days.

To be fair, given the current SCS situation and growing instability in the region, asking people not to take side ish already a form of taking side.

Because one can easily tell that under the circumstances not taking side on SCS and regional stability actually benefit CCP more than US and it's allies. CCP rather most in this region choose not to take side so that they can easily take turn use it's size and might to bully and slowly swallow all the small flies one by one.

But once more started to take side and forming a stronger alliances and common front against the bully, the bully will have a bigger headache as they try to fix one, ish will be all for one, one for all.

There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

But now, they'll only do it for money.
