Hong Kong Market suspended Typhoon again.

This is really one of the strange thing. Today markets are electronic and trading can carry on. Why do they have to suspend the market everything a typhoon hits?

Even during covid19 lockdown they can continue trading. Why do they have to shutdown due to typhoon.

Anything can happen in an emergency.  Electricity in any part of city can get cut;  buildings and factories can collapse under a severe storm, and disaster won't happen might just happen. As Shanghai has a link with HK stock exchange, maybe just a precautionary measure.

Trading Economics:  In China, employed persons refer to who performed some work for one hour during the reference period.
