马场是新加坡殖民时代的历史遗产
..so I am more than happy to see it go.
Those AMTK in HK still in delusional believing their Little British-empire is still around.

Agree. When STC revamp their backend IT betting system, the business logic to calculate the odds for horse betting I remember a key tester is from there most likely. He spoke English with a very strong Cantonese accent. He need to ensure the odds are calculated correctly during intensive QA testing for the different betting type like win, place, forecast, place forcast, tierce, trio, quartert, double, double trio etc. Then I think STC even introduce their very own odd/even betting type.
It is a major shift from IBM mainframe to IBM AIX or SunOS cannot remember already. Also change in software technology and how the new IT system vendor KE was terminated as they cannot meet the stringent performance needs of betting system. All bets usually come in very close to horse going to race out as the odds are more or less "guaranteed" and hence system can get jammed and cannot take the bets leading to revenue loss to STC and to govt.

FYI, golf courses already kenna chop deep deep under 21st century Whitepaper land use plan.
Already some major clubs forced to close shop next year while others have their plot shrunk...
So what makes continue playing with horses with falling interest any more justifiable ?

That is why older workers must reskill.
I am not worried about schools, poly and universities because they will stop teaching old things. But older workers... it's lifelong learning.
A good example is Talent. He put in effort to learn new skills, acquire new knowledge.

Golf course is way much larger compare to turf.
Riding horses is still in Olympic and Regional games.
And bet on horse are entertainment whether you like it or not.
Also Sg do not lack such a 'big' area turf as housing
Especially not far Tengah estate alone is quite big
What is more Sg local population barely grows.
Or is the flat going to be bigger? I seriously doubt so.

I see good news here - Demised horses are not wasted and put to nutritious use at the Zoo....
