Russian forces, he said, had surrounded the town on three sides and were “playing cat and mouse”, sending up “huge numbers” of drones to scout out Ukraine’s defences.

Ukrainian forces regard the town as a gateway for future advances to recapture territory in the east.

Now.....Putin n or Russia is luring migrants from Finnish border for war on Ukraine. Russia is trying to recruit foreign migrants.

Those detained in a recent sweep at border with Finland has seen evidence of several cases in which foreigners were rushed into a military camp on the border with Ukraine, days after they were picked up for breaching immigration laws.

BBC has see practice of coercing folks in pre-deportation detention centres to sign contracts swelled, foreign migrants arrived at Russia's 1,340km (833mile) border of Finland, its temporaily closed all eight Russian border crossings, accusing Moscow of channelling migrants & asylum seekers there as part of a destabilisation campaign after the govt in Helsinki who joined Nato earlier this year.

A few months ago, a Ukrainian official posted a video of a man who had been captured while fighting for Russia. The man was neither trained by Russia nor a resident of that country. Yet he had flown over 4,000km to serve in “one of the Russian Airborne Forces brigade”.

Belonging to the landlocked Himalayan state of Nepal, which has a growing population and rising unemployment, Bibek Khatri admits to joining the Russian forces solely for the money.

He blames his decision on financial woes back home, so, I went for it (joining the Russian Army),” Khatri says in the video. He says his friends suggested that he join up as a mercenary. “I wanted to return to my mom as a successful man. So, I joined.” Khatri is not the only one drawn by lucrative offers from Moscow. Nearly 200 Nepalese nationals are believed to be serving in Russian army as mercenaries, Inevitably, the job that comes with a high level of risk. At least six Nepalese nationals have been killed fighting on frontline in Russia’s war against Ukraine, leaving the govt under pressure from the public to bring back its young men. Nepalese youths being recruited to fight abroad are not just ending up fighting against Ukraine, multiple reports suggest Nepali mercenaries have been seen fighting on behalf of Ukraine against Russia, raising the possibility that they might end up face to face with their own countrymen in a war in which they have no stakes.

While Nepal has for decades been sending young men to serve in the British and Indian Armies through a formal agreement between the three countries, there are also sizable presences of Nepali nationals in other foreign militaries including France and the US. The country has no strategic or bilateral arrangements to send soldiers to fight in these armies. At least 1,000 Nepalese have received American citizenship in the last 5-years by joining US Army, Kathmandu-based Khabarhub, citing 2021 data from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. At least 300 Nepali youths were believed is serving as French Foreign Legionnaires under a special service branch created for foreign nationals to safeguard France’s national interests outside of the country, according to a statement by Nepal’s former ambassador to France Mohan Krishna Srastha in an interview,  the Himalayan Times

Factors like a lack of work opportunities at home, and poor pay even for those who do find jobs, are compelling young people to leave the country in search of better opportunities – and taking advantage of the Gurkhas’ famed reputation of being brave fighters.

According to International Labour Organisation, Nepal is a young country, with 63.7 per cent of the total population below the age of 30. The unemployment rate of youths aged 15-29 years is 19.2 per cent, as compared to 2.7 per cent for the whole population. “Out of 500,000 youths coming onto job market every year, only 80,000 or 100,000 get hired in Nepal,” Binoj Basnyat, a retired Major General in Nepalese Army, told New York Times. “Where would the rest go?”.

Khatri is not the only one being drawn by lucrative offers from Moscow. Nearly 200 Nepalese nationals are believed to be serving in Russian army as mercenaries, Nepal’s ambassador to Russia Milan Raj Tuladhar says in an interview with the taken prisoner by Ukrainian Armed Forces near Avdiivka. He signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and served in one of the Russian Airborne Forces brigades. Kyiv Post

The is what Putin love to see and more big sign, big ZZZ or small zzz...all is for to be into the killing...not for 2- mths only,  but for many more months or even year to cone... crying

For two months now, the Kremlin has been hurling every available regiment and brigade at Avdiivka, a key Ukrainian strongpoint just northwest of Donetsk city in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region.

To make the Russians pay for every yard they advance, the Ukrainians have deployed tanks. And they’re fighting as tanks—rolling close to Russian assault groups to fire their cannons while Russian missiles explode around them.

“We hold the defense line thanks to the tanks,” one Ukrainian soldier told Anadolu.

A drone video that circulated online this week depicts one of these armored counterattacks. A Ukrainian tank belonging to the 116th Mechanized Brigade—a T-64, apparently—rolls up on a Russian infantry team sheltering in a house just east of the sprawling coke plant that anchors Avdiivka’s northern flank.

Rapidly advancing then retreating then advancing again in order to complicate the Russians’ aim, the T-64’s three-person crew fires several rounds from its 125-millimeter main gun and demolishes some structures. What appears to be a Russian anti-tank missile narrowly misses the tank. Finally realizing they’ve lost, the Russian infantry flee on foot.

Hundreds of thousands wounded and dead in Ukraine as war grinds on, intelligence suggests.
A woman visits the part of a cemetery in Brovary, Ukraine, where Ukrainian soldiers are buried in April. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have been killed in the conflict.

With no end in sight after more than 21 months of war, the number of people killed or wounded in the Russian invasion of Ukraine is in the hundreds of thousands, intelligence estimates suggest.

The U.K. Ministry of Defence said this week that between late February 2022, when the move to take Kyiv began, and this November, official Russian forces suffered as many 240,000 wounded and 50,000 killed. Wagner Group mercenaries likely suffered 40,000 wounded and 20,000 killed, the ministry said.

"The median of the estimate range is 320,000 total Russian combatant casualties," the ministry tweeted. "Even amongst Russian officials there is likely a low level of understanding about total casualty figures because of a long-established culture of dishonest reporting within the military."

Fighting continues to rage in the biggest European conflict since the Second World War, with no sign that either side has landed a telling blow on the battlefield.

UK Defence Intelligence review dated 10 December on Twitte by European Pravda

Details: Ministry suggested Russian Air Force used its fleet of heavy bombers to launch an intense wave of attacks on Kyiv and central Ukraine on the night of 7 December 2023, marking the first time since 21 September 2023.
These aircraft, probably Tu-95s, launched at least 16 air-launched cruise missiles over the Caspian Sea from their usual operating area.
The missiles were probably Kh-101 and Kh-102 missiles designated by NATO as AS-23a KODIAK. According UK analysts, Russia most likely kept these missiles in reserve for use during the winter campaign.

Quote: "This was probably the start of a more concerted campaign by Russia aimed at degrading Ukraine’s energy infrastructure," the review reads. Analysts noted that the majority of these missiles were successfully intercepted by Ukraine’s air defence, based on initial reports. The attack resulted in one civilian death.

Background: On 25 November, the UK Ministry of Defence suggested that Russia's Black Sea Fleet logistical challenges in the port city of Novorossiysk affected their ability to launch cruise missiles towards Ukraine.

Depending on which news media you read from, it is either pro or against. I saw Russian news so many Ukrainian surrender and they do it at night to avoid killing from their own ppl. I saw Ukrainian news also same but big difference is I think in terms of numbers surrendering Ukraine has much more reason being they got lousy food (I saw a video) and US help are ending soon so most feel it is a useless fight to resist they surrender to be with their loved ones. Even some Ukrainian generals are going to talks without Zelensky approval I guess. Zelensky reign as Ukraine President will soon come to an end either he is jailed or murdered and his corpse tied to the back of a vehicle and drag around Kiev capital main roads for public viewing.

They are building calling up more newer and ex-experience reserves. They’ve brought in about 40,000 men here there along with ammunition of all calibres,” said Anton Kotsukon, spokesperson for the 110th separate mechanised brigade. “We see no sign of the Russians abandoning plans to encircle Avdiivka.”

The Russians or rather is Putin, he is sending more soldiers to the killing zone then encircling Avdiviivka. Finna.
