I thought there is a tech gap because they used a self made chip thatbis why performance uis like 3yrs ago qualcomm

Economic comparative advantage theory is focus on what you are good at ....when you try to be self reliant on everything you will fail and fall behind

Better to be self reliant and then later can also sell to other companies. If you depend on others, they may sell you the outdated ones, squeeze you dry when there is a strong demand, or the seller go bust and you dont have the chips for your product.
