Based on the news report from Taiwan local news, with this military exercise the Taiwanese has already made great loses. Especially those fishermen in both the North and Southern part of Taiwan.

Everyday they are running loses around NTD 4 million (US$133K) per day in total with all the fishermen not out in the open seas to fish. This exercise will be running for a period of 4 days, since yesterday.

On top of that with their seafood and fruits getting banned from importing into China which is worth around US$26 millions. The farmers and fishermen are complaining. What's worse is that their oil reserve is only good for 11 days, as tankers are unable to port into Taiwan due to the exercise. And on top of that their airport has to cancel many flights in this period of time.

Taiwanese loses will be huge. Had they remain status quo, they continue to enjoy trade with China with many Taiwanese being happy and stay the way they were. Complain all they want about China but still continue to do business with China, enjoy the revenue they were getting. While the military exercise will not happen and the demarcation remain as they were.

Now the demarcation are somewhat gone with this military exercise taking place and worse of all, Taiwan is now exposed more to the Chinese military. As the saying goes "stupid is as stupid does".
