What you’ve said reminded me before President Halimah was taking the Presidential role, she was staying in a HDB apartment. She had to move to a private property eventually when she was appointed to be the President. I think you make some sense in your comments.

It's much more than that. It is the same reason as wearing a Rolex and owning a yacht and keeping a mistress are frowned upon even if you hv the means as a politician

You can do so quietly and not get discovered, as your credibility and popularity depends on the voters

This is not happening for PAP because the whole political landscape is captive by their tyranny, so power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely and this is happening for PAP nowadays
