Christmas reflections and thoughts for the new year
#1

This year I would like to casually wish you merry Christmas and Happy New year but it wouldn't reflect how I feel.

2022 was the year I attended the most funerals in my life. Passing of friends, parents of friends and neighbors. It is a sad year. After a gloomy 2020 and 2021, during which we  coped with many challenges with restrictions and the slumping  economy, then came 2023...we were greeted by an unnecessary war that killed many. Putin started it and tried to blame others. Typical dictator hope to see him.overthrown and gone in 2023.

Perhaps the best thing that happened in 2022 was the World Cup that distracted us from the bad news for a month.  Like.many I was thrilled by the drama all they way to the spectacular finale.

They say light will follow the darkness, hopefully 2023.will be a better year.

Longer term I am not so optimistic. I see many dangers for mankind going ahead. World leaders are too short sighted too concerned about nationalistic concerns when the danger of not cooperating is tremendous. The nuclear threat has again returned. Climate issues not solved will haunt us for coming decades. Remember the pandemic risk was ignored until it became real. The pandemic is now almost over we will recover from it. But climate change and nuclear war.we.wont get out so easily..

The economy has reached end of 25yrs of monetary easing in 2022.  We knew this day would come sooner or later. During financial crisis and European crisis central banks kicked the can down the road ..now we are at the end of the road with inflation making a comeback.  The new era offers no certainty for anything. The last 25yrs baked certain ideas when it comes to investing. You have to discard and think afresh to be successful

I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

2023 should be a year of recession a bad year. So save monies for long cold winter is my strategy. Everywhere sure increase due to gst increase it is a ripple effect. Only hope my rice bowl is not broken as I just know my former company colleagues received the letter to be let go. Tech sector is hit very badly

this is why Rich become Richer. Recession is GOOD for Real rich who got spare funds to buy in cheap stocks , property etc. And laughing to bank when Economics spike up to bullish, common folks will start go in buy , invest whereby these REAL RICH WILL SOLD AT HIGH PRICE
