Bangkok’s Iconsiam is at riverfront with futuristic design and its food court is like a huge Thai festival market with local food, souveniors, lanterns, flowers, boats, bridges and music performance, and it has all the  branded stuffs.

Mid Valley Mall is outdated already, not many people go there. It is 20 years old mall.

I visited the mega Pavilion Mall, so high class so trendy so clean so big, simply loved it.

So sad that PAP is slowly turning Spore into a slum.

No lah, we still think Spore’s shopping is the best, however neighbouring countries are catching up very fast.

They have large land and talented designers and best workmanship for decorating malls.

No wonder we have less tourists coming in, they all go to Thailand and Msia for cheaper and better shopping

When exchange rate is 3.53,
Obviously people will not shop here.

Singapore don't have the land to build such mega malls lah. Also those big malls are about the same. Go tour go malls for what?

Although Spore has no land, it is wrong to assume all the malls are the same. For example Iconsiam mall in Bangkok is like an amusement park with water features in front of the river band, trendy 10 storey shopping levels and amazing foodcourt downstairs you won’t find it anywhere else in the world. The food court is like a big market and beautifully decorated with colourful lights & lanterns, small stream with bridges, stalls are selling food along the stream, got restaurants, roadside stalls, arts, clothing and souvenir  stores, every store is different decorated with different themes…you can stay there whole day eating, shopping & watching live band performance and don’t want to leave.

Here are some photos taken from that foodcourt, can you believe that is a foodcourt from Sporeans perspective?

That's right. It's not about size but about innovation and creativity. We should not find any excuses for not being able to match up to others. If we always just look at size, then we might as well not compete with any country on anything cos we'll never be able to win. Instead, we must look beyond size and start to offer people an experience.
