Implement min leave scheme for workers
#1

Cases of low income workers no willing to take MC when they are sick out of fear of losing part of their pay evoke strong emotional responses from Singaporeans.

How companies push workers to work when they are sick?

We have an ageing Singaporean workforce older workers get sick more often not less often. They need to rest their bodies more as it will breakdown if they keep pushing.

When Singapore was a British colony make British companies mandate minimum number of leave for workers.

In Australia it is 4 weeks. In other developed countries it is set at 30 days minimum.

Our workforce consists of more and more workers pushing into their 60s and 70s.

Instead of leaders talking about how MUCH THEY CARE and HOW CONCERN they are ....its time to put words into action.
They have been taking like this for 20yrs and things have just gotten worse and worse.

Australia national minimum leave policy.

Our leaders are good at justifying why they and their elites are deserving of their high pay.

Our workers deserve something too.

Who speaks up for them except a few opposition MPs in Parliament?

I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

You talking about Sick leave or Annual leave?

Logically, if there is 30 days Annual leave, no need to have sick leave, except hospitalization leave.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

To have a 30 days min. of annual leave is too excessive.  A more appropriate number of leave will be 21 days min..........

Is private sector has following type of leave?
1) Parents care leave
2) Child care leave
3) Paid sick leave without MC
4) 30 days outpatient leave
5) 60 days hospitalised leave

Excluding vacation leave and casual leave.
If yes, should you ask for more?

Let me repeat, MOM is HEARTLESS.

They are out- of- touch and don't care how we suffer.

So must be a World Class Hypocrite like Jac Lau-

For your information, the vast majority of low income workers are FWs.

If and when the government makes a new law, do not come here and whine:  NS for sinkies, welfare for FTs when those FWs are hardly FTs, but coolie workers doing jobs which even Malaysians like you shun....

Only some staff who works for many years or senior posts may able to get 21 days annual leave.
To enforce it on private sectors is difficult, to more public holidays is more practical,
it can also boost family time , local spending, attractions for tourists.

FWs are the big/huge bulk of low wage workers.

In truth, they are only low wage here, but when they remit their money back, they are high wage...

It usually starts from 14 days and then increased by one day for each completed year of service till it reaches 21 days.

It is a good way to encourage workers to stay with the company.

Still, most people do not work for long enough to reach the maximum 21 days.

Most sinkies job hop every 2 or 3 years, many even shorter than that.

During LKY's time, the very early early time, civil service jobs were a dead end....low pay, routine work, boring job, just follow SOP, don't act smart, cover backside, and you can work long long.

Most people joined the private sector thinking that it was a pot of gold.

Nobody expected Singapore to become 1st world in one generation, and along with that, the civil service turned out to be a better place to work in than the vast majority of private sector companies.  Those private sector MNCs which paid well and paid several months of bonuses, gave excellent fringe benefits, were few and far between.

The Singapore employees have too many Leaves.  Employees don't only clear their Annual leaves. They will also clear their MC entitlement in full,so much so that some employers have to resort to give special and bigger bonus and increment to employees in exchange for their promises not to go on MC. But employers are suckers. The employees still cleared as much of the MC entittlement. Tbh MC leaves has beeb widely abused.
