WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the pandemic could end in 2022, because we already have the "weapons", namely vaccines. He said the pandemic would end soon, if the global vaccine distribution gap could be addressed quickly. "If we can end the (vaccination) gap, we end the pandemic and end the global nightmare we are all experiencing. And this is possible," Tedros said, in a statement welcoming the new year 2022.

"The most realistic thing in the context of when this pandemic will end is the highest or the most optimistic is the end of 2022," said Dicky, when contacted by Kompas.com, Saturday (1/1/2022).

"Where the world's vaccine coverage has reached at least 70 percent for the two-dose vaccine," he continued.
